Although KFC’s official recipes are kept a strict secret, people have managed to closely replicate them. These are commonly referred to as “copy cat” recipes. They make it possible for you to make your favorite KFC foods at home. Included below are recipes for KFC’s most popular menu items.

KFC Coleslaw Recipe

KFC’s Coleslaw is arguably the company’s most popular side. It is a sweet and tangy mix full of fresh cabbage, onions, and carrots. Replicating the restaurant’s coleslaw recipe is simple.

Ingredients:

1/2 Cup Your Favorite Mayonnaise
1/3 Cup Granulated Sugar
1/4 Cup Buttermilk
1/4 Cup Whole Milk
1/8 Teaspoon Pepper
2.5 Teaspoons Lemon Juice
1.5 Tablespoons White Vinegar
.5 Teaspoon Salt
1 Head Cabbage
1 Carrot
3 Teaspoons Chopped Carrots

Instructions:

Give the cabbage a rough chop and place in a food processor until completed shredded.

Next, in a large mixing bowl mix the wet ingredients, followed by sugar, salt, and pepper in to your shredded cabbage mixture.

After thoroughly mixed, cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 4 hours.

Serve and enjoy.  The coleslaw will last in your refrigerator for 3-4 days.

 

KFC Chicken Recipe 

The restaurant’s signature chicken recipe contains a special blend of 11 herbs and spices that tantalize the taste buds. Now the recipe that made KFC famous can now be made at home. Please note KFC uses pressure fryers to fry their chicken, however you can use a regular deep fryer or even a pan of oil.

Ingredients:

1 Egg
3 Pound Container of Lard Or Crisco
1 Cup Buttermilk
1 Chicken Cut In To 6 Pieces
1 Cup White All Purpose Flour
1 Tsp Garlic Power (Not Garlic Salt)
1Tbsp Onion Salt
2 Tbsp Paprika
1 Tsp Pepper
1 Tsp Dry Majorum
1 Tsp Dry Basil
1 Tsp Dry Sage
1 Tsp Dry Oregano
1 Tsp Chili Powder

Instructions:

In a large bowl, stir together the egg and buttermilk. Place the chicken in the mixture.

In a separate bowl pour in the flour and all herbs and spices. Place the chicken in the flour mixture and coat completely.

Place the lard in your fryer, heat to 365 degrees Fahrenheit.

Safely use the proper utensils to carefully lower the chicken in the fryer and fry for 8-10 minutes. You want the chicken to attain a nice golden brown color before removing.

Follow the fryers instructions to carefully remove it and place the chicken on paper towels.

Repeat this process two pieces at a time until all remaining pieces of chicken is fried.
